Jack & Ruth’s Troffice Playlist

You'll Disappear = Phenomenal Handclap Band
We like literal band names. Phenomenal Handclap Band came hotly tipped and although the record is pretty great, live this band are truly amazing. Anyone lucky enough to see them supporting Maps at The Deaf Institute will 100% deffo be there when they return. Which they will. Hopefully

Land Of The Freak = King Khan & The Shrines

Playing the Deaf Institute on 30th September. Walk over to the bar now and buy a ticket because they're one of the best live bands in the world. Apparently anyway...we haven't seen them yet. Will be ace though surely?

See You = Dinosaur Jr

It's going to take something really special to knock this off the top of my end of year poll. Gloriously melodic and totally fresh, which is pretty impressive after 25 plus years.

Mode = Audacity
Surf hardcore insanity from a bunch of stoned californian teens. Expect to be hearing alot from Audacity, obviously that's reliant on the music industry completely changing in every way possible.

I Just Can't Take It Anymore = The Lemonheads
Ace Gram Parsons' cover from Evan Dando's new covers album. The rest of the album is fairly patchy and unfortunately features Kate Moss on one song which is so earbleedingly bad, I can't bring myself to type it.

Rad Pitt = Egyptian Hip-Hop

Really great new Manchester band that thankfully owe nothing to Manchester past.

Stillness Is The Move = Dirty Projectors
Reviewers have gone ape over the new album and rightly so. This is the lead single and I can only really think of stuff like Timbaland as a reference point. Far more accessible that 'Rise Above' but just as interesting and innovative.

Military Madness = Woods

The band behind the Woodsist label that have put out some of this year's best albums (Ganglians, Kurt Vile, Blank Dogs & Wavves). This a cover of a Graham Nash song that manages to be pretty straight, slightly weird and really uplifting all at the same time.

You've Got Arms = Beards

Beards support The Strange Boys at Deaf Wave on August 15th. If you came to Deerhoof at Now Wave or you like Harry Pussy and total weirdness, then come along. The Hipshakes & Mazes play aswell.
